The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported on Wednesday that since the beginning of the special military operation of the Russian Federation, a total of 7,915,287 refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Europe.
According to information available to UNHCR, the number increased by 18,462 in the last week.
According to the department, Russia received the most refugees from February 24, 2022 to January 3, 2023 – 2,852,395. Followed by Poland (1,553,707), Germany (1,021,667), Czech Republic (476,025), Italy (173,231), Spain (173,231). (164,705), Great Britain (152,200), Bulgaria (148,451), France (118,994), Romania (106,786), Slovakia (105,205) and Moldova (102,103). In other states, this number does not exceed 100,000. 4,905,293 refugees are included in national temporary protection and support programs.
According to UNHCR, a total of 17,139,782 people arrived from Ukraine to neighboring countries after 24 February. At the same time, 9,180,679 people crossed the border in the opposite direction.
