Brașov City Hall launched the tender for the execution of the works of the first park & ride in the municipality. The parking lot will have 697 places for cars, 10 places for motorcycles, 12 places for coaches or minibuses and 54 places for bicycles and will be the largest multi-storey car park in Brașov. The value of the investment, co-financed by the EU, is over 112 million lei.
The project is part of the municipality’s strategy of transition towards citizen mobility, at the expense of car mobility. The multi-storey car park will be built in Bartolomeu, near the future Multipurpose Hall, it will have 4 levels and over 700 parking spaces. The estimated value of the purchase is over 112 million lei, excluding VAT.
“We cannot ask the residents of Brasov, residents of the metropolitan area or tourists not to use their own cars as long as we do not offer them alternatives. And now we are implementing these alternatives: modern and electrified public transportation, bike lanes, charging stations for electric cars and, last but not least, our program to build park and rides at all entrances to the city,” said Mayor Allen Hut.
The parking lot will have a height regime of 4 levels and an area of over 20,000 square meters and will be equipped with 13 charging stations for electric cars. The maximum duration of execution is 18 months from the date of the order to start the works.
