The French Lagardère group, present on the local market through the company Lagardère Travel Retail, active in the retail sector aimed at travelers, has proposed to open 30 new spaces in Romania by the end of this year, focusing mainly on the concepts of proximity and development in the airport area.

“In August, we will bring a new concept to Romania, natoo, a restaurant focused on healthy food. The first space under this name, which was born in the Venice airport, will open in Park Lake”, says Marius Văcălău, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail.

The company ended 2021 with a turnover of 829 million lei, up by approximately 7% compared to the previous year. For the entire year 2022, the company has budgeted a 12-15% increase in business.

“In the first months of 2022, we are already 5% above what we budgeted at the beginning of the year. From April we saw a resumption of flights, April 2022 came very close in results to April 2019, before the pandemic.”

In Romania, the Lagardère Travel Retail company has been present for over 25 years in retail in transit areas, commercial galleries and business centers and operates a network of approximately 300 stores for the urban convenience, travel essentials, gifts & souvenirs and foodservice segments. The company is present in almost all airports in Romania with its foodservice division, and at Otopeni airport it has only one unit, under the Relay brand, between the Departures and Arrivals terminals.

On a local level, the Lagardère Travel Retail portfolio includes eight brands, the best known being Inmedio, Relay, 1 Minute, HUB Convenience and So!Coffee.
