The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism launched two market prospecting procedures in order to acquire services for the operationalization of the unique romania.travel portal, respectively, for the promotion of Romanian destinations for tourists from Great Britain and Germany, in an online and television campaign.

In a statement sent to StartupCafe.ro, MAT says that “the use of digital marketing tools is one of the most important pillars in any integrated marketing strategy of the tourist destination”.

“Achieving the strategic objective of increasing the notoriety of the tourist destination Romania, by communicating the differentiating elements, on the targeted external markets, requires the development of an integrated marketing and communication campaign, including TV and online components, taking advantage of the opportunities on the targeted markets, so that the promotion be realized in a sustainable manner, which helps highlight Romanian values. Together with the members of the National Tourist Brand Council, MAT implements a marketing plan adapted to Romania’s current promotion needs”, says Constantin-Daniel Cadariu, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

The two market prospecting procedures:

1. Operationalization of romania.travel

The first market prospecting procedure envisages the subsequent start of a public procurement procedure for some services for the creation of the romania.travel web portal. Deadline for submission of proposals: 14.07.2022.

The romania.travel online portal “will be created in compliance with the KISS (Keep It Straight Simple) principle”, claims MAT.

The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism says that it thus aims to obtain “a functional, accessible and attractive software tool for the digital promotion of the Romanian tourist destination”.

The existing portal romania.travel also has a Facebook page with around 20,000 followers.

2. Promotion of Romanian tourism in Germany and the UK

The second market prospecting procedure concerns a future procedure for the purchase of services for the development of an integrated TV-online promotion campaign in Great Britain and Germany. Deadline for submission of proposals: 18.07.2022.

The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism believes that “in the activity of tourism promotion, transnational, pan-European television channels with specific tourism, sports, news and travel represent an important tool through which the promotional message reaches potential tourists”.

The impact that such televisions have among consumers of tourist products and services “is an effective one, the influence that visual media has among the public being known” – MAT also believes.

The Ministry of Tourism claims that in choosing the two markets, Great Britain and Germany, it is based on “a series of normative acts, strategic documents of the ministry, studies, as well as the high potential both from an economic point of view and from the consumption of TV advertising – online among the markets of interest for Romania”.

The declared objectives of the integrated TV-online campaign are:

  • “to increase the level of notoriety of Romania as a tourist destination for city breaks,
  • to boost traffic on the www.romania.travel site, carried out from the respective countries,
  • as well as to improve the ranking in Google searches about Romania”.

These actions, to which is added the campaign to promote Romania through opinion leaders, are part of the “integrated campaign to promote the tourist destination Romania”, which will be carried out in 2022 by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism in partnership with the Brand Council National Tourist.
