Greek MEP Eva Kaili, one of the vice-presidents of the European Parliament, who is being investigated by the Belgian police for alleged corruption related to Qatar, is a former TV presenter who started her political career in her native country 15 years ago.

Eva Kailia is 44 years old and was born in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Eva Kaili was a news anchor and journalist for the MEGA TV station in Greece from 2004 to 2007.
In 2007, he started his political career in his native country, being a member of the Greek Parliament for five years.
During 2013-2014 he was the president of the Center for Gender Equality within the Greek Ministry of the Interior.
Since 2014, he is an elected member of the European Parliament from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.

In the first term, from 2014 to 2019, he was the chairman of the Committee for the Future of Science and Technology, chairman of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and a member of the Conference of Delegation Chairs.
He won a second term in 2019 for another five years. He is the Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2022. He was the President of the Committee on the Future of Science and Technology and the Center for AI from 2019-2022.
According to the CV published on the European Parliament portal, Eva Kaili is doing her doctorate in the field of international economic policy. He did a course on artificial intelligence at the Oxford Internet Institute in 2019. He has a master’s degree in International and European Affairs from the University of Piraeus. She has a degree in architecture and civil engineering in Thessaloniki and did a journalism course in Athens.
Eva Kaili was kicked out of the party she belongs to amid a corruption investigation.
“As a result of the latest developments and the investigation by the Belgian authorities regarding the corruption of European officials, the MEP Eva Kaili is excluded from PASOK-Movement of change by the decision of the president Nikos Androulakis”, the Pan-Hellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK), one of the main opposition parties in Greece.
Kaili’s political group in the European Parliament, the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, also announced on Friday that it was suspending Kaili immediately “in response to ongoing investigations”.
