The five-star Athénée Palace Hilton hotel received the distinction of Romania’s Leading Hotel and the award of Romania’s Business Leading Hotel in the 24th edition of the World Travel Awards Europe, an event in which the best businesses in the tourism industry are awarded.
During the awards ceremony that took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on September 30, the Athénée Palace Hilton portfolio received two of the 17 awards won by Hilton hotels in Europe.
Athénée Palace Hilton is the main hotel of the ANA Hotels group in the Capital and has 272 rooms and suites, 13 conference rooms, a health and fitness club, and two restaurants, a terrace and a bar.
ANA Hotels, a company controlled by the Copos family, owns a portfolio of six hotels, namely Athénée Palace Hilton and Crowne Plaza, both located in Bucharest, Europa Hotel and Ana Aslan Health Spa in Eforie, Sport and Sport Wellness Spa Hotel, Bradul Hotel in Poiana Brasov and Ana Teleferic.
The company ended 2016 with a turnover of approximately 142 million lei (31 million euros), up 10% compared to 2015, and had an average number of 591 employees.
George Copos entered the hotel business 20 years ago, when he bought the Sport, Poiana and Bradul hotels in Poiana Braşov and the former Flora hotel, the current Crowne Plaza in Bucharest. The businessman later bought the building where the Athénée Palace Hilton hotel operates.
