False news waves are about to permanently flood the online environment and make it unusable. The concern for combating the fake news phenomenon is major. A consortium led by the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi (TUIASI) aims to combat misinformation in online media with the help of blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), through a project funded by European funds. The project coordinator, Cristian Nicolae Buţincu, head of works at the Faculty of Automation and Computers within the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi, stated that the latest technologies will be used to combat the misinformation made through the media: “The project was born within Cluj IT, a cluster organization, which came up with the proposal to see if we can find ideas for the TruBlo competition, a cascading funding program for blockchain projects. TruBlo was developed within NGI ( Next Generation Internet) and is part of the European Commission’s funding program, Horizon 2020. We, at the “Gheorghe Asachi ‘Technical University, came up with the idea of creating a project to fight against misinformation in the media. They liked the idea, they covered it in the cluster, and so did the other members of the project. In addition to our university and Cluj IT, this consortium also includes the company Zetta Cloud – which provides AI solutions for the analysis of online content and its deep understanding. Also part of Cyber Dacians – a cybersecurity firm with experience in anti-disinformation techniques. The founders of this cyber security company are also the founders of a think tank against misinformation that has been active for at least 5 years. The consortium also includes the news and media interface platform, Digitalio, which is also a Transylvanian News project. detect with the help of Artificial Intelligence whether or not they contain truth by analyzing their authenticity, veracity and ultimately assigning reputation scores to both the news and the publishers and sites that publish or host them.

Cristian Nicolae Buţincu explained: “At the platform level there are several modules that are based on the human component and the Artificial Intelligence component. The human component part, that crowd winsdom, practically represents human agents who check the news using their own tools (tools – no. They can also use tools provided by Artificial Intelligence if they wish. Each human validator will give a certain score for a certain news.In parallel there are AI modules that work as a federation. These AI modules can be written by different entities Some will be written new, other modules can be written by other companies that develop AI.In turn, they assign a reputation score to the news. The scores are aggregated. At the end there are two scores: one given by AI and one that is When we see certain scores that are very different from the one voted on by most components, that reputation will be adjusted. both for the persons who performed the analysis, ie for the human component, and for the AI components. As the score assigned by a particular entity approaches the score that is considered true, its reputation grows. If the score is very different, the reputation will decline. This reputation, over time, can be converted into tokens on the blockchain, which are to be used in trade, monetization, advertising. “The project aims to have a similar approach to the existing one in the field of search engines. According to Cristian Nicolae Buţincu, The project will not try to impose a specific platform for sites and news agencies, but will develop specialized web crawlers that will take the content and then index it on the blockchain.

The reader may find that the news that appears is plagiarized, fake news or misinformation. Cristian Nicolae Buţincu specified: “It is clear that plagiarism can be detected immediately. Fake news, whether or not it will disappear at the level of society remains to be seen. The education of the population also matters, because even if we provide many platforms or means by which it can be verified whether or not a news item is fake news, if those tools are not used at the level of society, then the problems remain and that fake news and misinformation will fall victim. educated and have tools you can rely on to assess whether or not a particular news story has misinformation or parts of misinformation at its level. ”

Also with the help of the blockchain and analysis algorithms, it could be detected not only if a news is fake news or not, at least through AI, but also offers the possibility to find out the way, the method, by which that news propagated.
