Russian President Vladimir Putin wore a 12,000-euro jacket, produced by the Italian company Loro Piana, on the stage of the Moscow Olympic Stadium. The owner of the company says that he was “ashamed” to see this and that he is helping the Ukrainian people with donations, reports La Repubblica.

“It’s a bit embarrassing from a human point of view,” said Pier Luigi Loro Piana. His company is a family business, but in 2013, the French fashion giant LVMH bought 80 percent of the company.

The Loro Piana jacket worn by Putin, over a white sweater around his neck that hid a bulletproof vest, sells in Russia for about one and a half million rubles, or over 12,000 euros.

“The group to which Loro Piana belongs has already taken all the necessary steps to distance itself and be in solidarity with European positions in the face of the human tragedy we are experiencing,” said the entrepreneur.

In fact, since the beginning of March, the LVMH group, like the other European luxury brands, has interrupted deliveries in Russia and closed its stores indefinitely.

“I think Putin’s clothes were bought a long time ago, but I think these are minor issues compared to the tragedy of a war. As a company, we are fully in solidarity with the positions of the LVMH group. It is clear which side we have chosen to be on. I don’t feel guilty about wearing that jacket on stage, but I think Putin should reflect on the massacre he is committing against the Ukrainian people, “said Loro Piana.

The company helps the people of Ukraine by donating to aid associations. He also sent blankets and textiles to Ukraine for those who lost everything in the bombing.

“Support for the population at the moment is the most important thing. The Ukrainians will have all our moral and practical support “, said the entrepreneur.
