In the mountains it’s winter all right, and the resorts in Brașov County are no exception. The first day of the weekend brought a wave of tourists entertained by the snow, but as in previous years, some chose to ignore the recommendations of mountain rescuers regarding the appropriate equipment for a mountain getaway.
Tourists in sneakers, with trousers overlooking the ankle, or with cloth espadrilles branded as visibly as possible, have already appeared on the ski slopes. A real danger for them and for those who risk their lives to save them, in case they end up in difficult situations.
“The ski season 2021 – 2022 has started! We congratulate the tourists that they came prepared on the slope with complete, high-performance and state-of-the-art equipment! ”, Wrote the director of the Public Mountain Rescue Service of Brasov County, Sebastian Marinescu, in a post on Facebook.
Risk of avalanches on the mountain
For almost a week, mountain rescuers have been warning that the risk of avalanches has begun to appear in some massifs, especially at altitudes above 1800 meters.
“The risk of avalanches began to appear in some massifs, especially at altitudes above 1800 meters. What needs to be understood is that even under 1800 there are occasional accumulations, wind plates or dynamite snow masses can reach higher altitudes. Be careful, start using the avalanche kit “, transmitted the mountain rescuers, members of the Avalanche Dogs Salvamont Romania service.
