Today, December 3, 2021, from 17:00, the CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS MARKET opens, the first open-air Christmas Fair in Romania, which will bring to the forefront the classical music of the winter holidays.
Positioned on the Esplanade of the Bucharest National Opera (Bulevardul Mihail Kogălniceanu 70-72), CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS MARKET will be open to the public from December 3 to 31, between 10.00 and 21.00 and admission will be free based on the green certificate!
CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS MARKET is the first Christmas Fair hosted by the Bucharest National Opera in its entire centennial history, being organized together with the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin” and the Cantus Mundi National Program. Spread over no less than 12,000 square meters, CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS MARKET offers visitors, regardless of age, the special atmosphere and charm of the winter holidays, captured in an impressive scenery, with various attractions, in a fairytale musical setting.
CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS MARKET is created around a ice rink (600 mp) and invites the audience to enjoy the magic of the music played on The carolers’ scene of children from
Cantus Mundi National Program coming from all over the country or from the little artists of the Children’s Choir of the Bucharest National Opera. Attractions include walks with OCC Express and carriage with horses, but also sleigh rides or surprise meetings with Santa Claus. Visitors will be able to enjoy the gift-giving workshops hosted by Leprechauns Workshops, of food
traditional, dichis sweets and mulled wine from Christmas houses and many other surprises. CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS MARKET has prepared stunning sets with huge angels, fir trees
over 5 meters, lights and special bright architecture for an unforgettable December experience in Bucharest.
Throughout the Fair, several event performances will take place in the Great Hall of the National Opera:
-Premiere of the centennial show “Lohengrin” by R. Wagner (directed by Silviu Purcărete – December 8, 10 and 12),
-Evening Young Choreographers (December 14), the ballet show “The Nutcracker”By P. I Tchaikovsky (December 15, 18, 23 and 29),
-The show “The Traviata” by G. Verdi (19 and 22 December),
– “Figaro’s Wedding” de W. A. Mozart (18 December)
-“Bohemian” by G. Puccini (December 29)
Last but not least, on the famous stage of the National Opera will take place the long-awaited performances of the Christmas show of the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, which this year is entitled “On the way to Christmas”(December 16 and 17)
