Brasov County, with 901 units, ranks first nationally by number of structures accommodation, according to the latest INS data.

It is followed by the counties of Constanţa (853 units), Tulcea (587), Suceava (524), Harghita (401), Maramureş (392), Cluj (377), Mureş (350) and Sibiu (342).

Constanţa County had the largest share (24.5%) in the total number of existing rooms in the tourist reception structures (excluding the rooms in the cottages).

Braşov County has a share of 7.9% of accommodation, followed by Bucharest with 6.2%, Bihor County with 3.9%, Suceava with 3.7%, Cluj with 3.4% and Vâlcea County with 3 ,3%.

At national level, there were 166,400 rooms in the tourist reception structures with accommodation functions as of July 31, 2021 (excluding the rooms in the cottages).

Of these, 99,700 (59.9%) were in hotels.

In 2021 compared to the previous year, the number of reported rooms increased by 1,587 in agritourism pensions, 1,296 in hotels, and at tourist villas and tourist pensions (by 88 each).

Most hotels were categorized as 3 stars (53.3% of total hotels), 4 stars (25%) and 2 stars (17.3%).

There were 36 5-star hotels (2 more than on July 31, 2020).
