BUCHAREST (Romania), October 4 (SeeNews) – The German bearing manufacturer Schaeffler has announced that it will be opening a test center in the city of Brasov in central Romania next year.

Around 160 engineers will work in the 8,000 square meter test center, Schaeffler announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The new test facility will support the activities of the existing Schaeffler plant in the municipality of Cristian, near Brasov, and its engineering center in the same area.

“With the new test center, we are laying a very important foundation stone for the development of Brasov as an R&D location for Schaeffler Automotive. We are therefore strengthening the global presence of our development activities by making use of the excellent qualifications of our colleagues in Romania. ”That said, Schaeffler Automotive boss Peter Pleus.

With the new test center, Schaeffler Romania will add another important activity to the product validation process and thus significantly increase the degree of maturity of the product development process, according to the company.

Schaeffler started operations in Romania in 2002 and currently operates a plant in Cristian with 4,500 employees and an engineering center with 200 employees at the same location.

With over 500 million euros (578 million US dollars) in 14 years of activity, the Schaeffler plant in Romania is one of the largest investments by the German group in production facilities. The plant supplies parts to major manufacturers in the automotive and wind power industries.

The Schaeffler Group is a manufacturer of rolling bearings for automotive, aerospace and industrial applications that is represented in 50 countries with 170 production sites and research centers.
