Bucharest, Romania, January 22nd (SeeNews) – Solaris Bus & Coach, a unit of the Spanish Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF), announced on Friday a tender for a contract worth 63 million lei (15.6 million US dollars / 12.9 million euros) to deliver 25 trolleybuses to the central Romanian city of Brasov in the next twelve months.

This will be the second shipment of Solaris trolleybuses to Brasov, the company said in a press release.

The Trollino 18 trolleybuses of the Solaris type are equipped with a 240 kW electric motor, Medcom drive and automatic retractors. The vehicles can carry up to 133 passengers and have a five-year guarantee.

In July, Solaris delivered 26 trolleybuses to the Brasov municipality.

In mid-December, Solaris announced that it had won a tender for 17.5 million lei for an order to supply ten hybrid buses to the Romanian municipality of Reghin by the end of March 2022.

In November, Solaris said it would deliver 16 electric buses to the city of Craiova, twenty trolley buses to Ploiesti, six hybrid buses to Satu Mare, three trolley buses to Medias and twenty hybrid buses to Galati during the course of 2021.

CAF is a manufacturer of rolling stock and railway equipment listed on the Spanish stock exchange. The company is headquartered in Beasain in the Basque Autonomous Community and has factories in Spain, France, the UK, Brazil, Mexico and the USA
