mhe colleague Louise Callaghan has already written eloquently about our recent assignment in Brasov. This is the photographer’s perspective.

The mandate was to “illustrate the effects of bear encroachments that may be linked to a bear hunt ban in 2016”. Of course there should be a picture of a bear, which is easier said than done.

Pictures of bears were everywhere: on Romania’s favorite beer Ursus, Barny candy bars, fridge magnets and street art. This seemed to sum up the dichotomy between the real and a fictional vision of bears.
