King Mihai’s guiding beacon, that light of a principled and just Romania, will never be dark, the Crown Custodian, Her Majesty Margaret, sent to the Romanians in the speech delivered at Peles Castle, on Sunday, during the ceremony in which the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations awarded him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
“Tomorrow we celebrate a hundred years since the birth of King Michael. Throughout my life, the bright beacon of everything I did was my father. Whenever I wondered which direction to take, all I had to do was look “Thank you for the prestigious honorary doctorate awarded by your university and I renew my commitment to Romanians that the guiding beacon of King Mihai, that light of a principled and just Romania, will never darken.” the Crown Guardian pointed out in his speech.
The ceremony in which the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations awarded the titles of Doctor Honoris Causa to Her Majesty Margaret, Crown Keeper, and Her Royal Highness to Prince Radu took place in the Hall of Honor of Peles Castle in Sinaia.
“My father, King Mihai, like all my predecessors, presided over many public events in this hall, and we continue this tradition today, but in very different circumstances. Because the conditions of Romania in my father’s time were gloomy. Then we faced either with the domination of Nazism and fascism, or with the domination of Stalin’s Soviet Union Romania of 2021 is in an incomparably better position We are a member of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, a network of organizations that support our stability today and it ensures our security and prosperity in the future, “said the Crown Guardian.
In this context, His Majesty stressed the importance of our country’s membership in the two organizations.
“In NATO, Romania is already an exporter, not just a consumer of security. And in the European Union, our political leadership will do everything possible to support the unity of our goals; whatever disagreements we have, I know that our country does not it will never threaten the unity of the European Union, “the Crown Guardian said.
At the same time, Her Majesty mentioned the contribution of the Royal Family, together with the State institutions, to the promotion of Romania’s image and interests at a global level, according to Agerpres.ro.
“During our travels, speeches and many other activities, we want to emphasize the deep European roots of our country and society and our lasting contribution to the European continent. It is a multidisciplinary, multi-religious and multi-ethnic contribution that enriches the continent and which is enriched by it, a contribution that is not frozen in the past, but enjoys, in many respects, a rebirth today, because millions of our citizens settle in other countries, many – I hope – only for a short period of time. “I don’t think our Family’s effort is a purely nationalist endeavor. I hope that what we intend to do will highlight how interconnected Western Europe is with so-called Eastern Europe. We are together now because we have always been together; only the cruel twists of history have temporarily separated us, and then our effort must not be exclusively European, just as political leadership is he constantly strives to do so, we must also emphasize the essential role of the two great North American nations in our transatlantic Alliance, as well as the reason why we should remain united, “the Crown Custodian said.
