The Governor of the Central Bank of Slovakia, a member of the ECB Council, is accused of corruption
Slovakia’s central bank governor Peter Kazimir, who is also a member of the governing body of the European Central Bank (ECB), was indicted on Tuesday for corruption, but immediately denied the allegations, according to Reuters.
According to the Slovak press, Peter Kazimir was indicted in a case involving the bribery of a former director of the Bratislava Tax Administration, who is the subject of several investigations and is working with investigators.
“I do not feel guilty about any crime. The evidence in this case is not true and has no real basis. “, reacted Peter Kazimir.
Peter Kazimir risks being expelled from the Governing Council of the European Central Bank on charges.
“I have no information and I do not know that I have broken the law, nor have I ever had any interest in influencing any procedure.”, insisted the governor of the Central Bank of Slovakia.
