Delta strain in Romania. Number of cases in Bucharest, Constanța, Brașov, Iași

Over 260 coronavirus infections with the Delta variant have been registered so far in Romania.

Over 260 infections with the Delta variant of coronavirus have been registered so far in Romania, announces the National Institute of Public Health (INSP). Delta strain infections increased from 1.5% to 13%.

According to the INSP report sent on Tuesday, by August 1, 2,610 sequencers were reported. Of these, 2,009 cases of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern have been confirmed.

The confirmation rate with new SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern is 77%.

Of the 2,009 cases, 262 are with the Delta strain, 23 with the Gamma strain, 11 with the Beta strain and 1,713 with the Alpha strain.

Regarding the cases confirmed with the Delta strain, INSP announces an upward trend, from 1.5% two months ago to 13% in the last week of July.

Of the 262 cases with the Delta variant, 42% (110 cases) are in 56 outbreaks, of which 48 family (77 cases) and eight community (33 cases), from Bucharest (11) and 13 counties: Argeș (5 ), Bacău (3), Brașov (1), Brăila (1), Botoșani (1), Călărași (5), Constanța (2), Dolj (5), Ilfov (6), Iași (10), Olt (1 ), Teleorman (3) and Timiș (2).

Of the outbreaks, eight out of eight were historical travel to Finland (1), India (3), Italy (1), Spain (1), Turkey (1), and the UK (1).

For 35% (92 cases) an epidemiological link could not be made.

18 percent of the cases, respectively 46, are sporadic cases and have a history of travel or stay at work in other countries.

Of the 262 confirmed cases of the Delta variant, 50 people (19%) had been vaccinated. Of these, three were incompletely vaccinated and 47 were completely vaccinated.

There were registered 14 deaths in confirmed cases with the Delta variant in the counties of Argeș, Bacău (2), Iași (3), Olt, Bucharest, Botoșani, Constanța, Mureș (2), Vâlcea, Satu Mare.
