On December 17th, the outgoing Romanian government inaugurated the 6.3 km stretch of motorway between Rasnov and Cristian – near Brasov, part of the Ploiesti-Brasov motorway.

The 3.7 km long section between Rasnov and Predeal, a section that caused more problems for the builders because it runs through a valley, was also completed – but only as a four-lane motorway.

Transport Minister Lucian Bode emphasized that the government had completed 90 km of autobahn this year and assured that it would continue to work for the expansion of the country’s road infrastructure.

“This success is a very clear signal that road infrastructure is a priority for the Liberal government, and at the same time a firm commitment that this project, after 18 years of public debate, has solid support and is on its way to being completed with these 10 Kilometers of autobahn, the liberal government ends 2020 with around 90 kilometers of autobahn, which was completed in a difficult year, “said Lucian Bode at the beginning of the government meeting on Thursday, News.ro reported.

For the longer section of the Ploiesti-Brasov motorway, namely Ploiesti-Comarnic, the government has requested a revision of the feasibility study.
